Mayor Menino to undergo reparative eyelid surgery

BOSTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Wednesday, Mayor Menino will go under the knife at Mass General. He will have outpatient surgery to repair his drooping eyelids.

The Boston Globe reported that Mayor Menino has been dealing with this issue for the better part of a decade.

His eyelids have slowly started to impair his vision so he wants to have the condition repaired now. The procedure should only take about an hour.

Doctors said the surgery will cause bruising and swelling on the Mayor's face. As a result, he has cancelled public appearances for the next week.
