BOSTON (WHDH) -- A former Boston University hockey player pleaded guilty to assault after prosecutors say he groped a woman in a school dorm last year.

Corey Trivino avoided a trial and jail time by changing his plea.

“I couldn’t escape this nightmare. And that’s exactly what it became; a nightmare,” the alleged victim said in court. “I think that I see Corey all the time when I’m in the city, at least once a day, if not more. And every single time, my body reacts with terror just as it did the night that he assaulted me.”

Trivino, in a deal with prosecutors, pleaded guilty to charges of assault and battery and trespassing on Tuesday. He apologized to the victim.

A judge sentenced the 22-year-old to two years of probation. The Canadian must remain alcohol free and undergo random testing by the National Hockey League.

Trivino, who was drafted in 2008 by the New York Islanders, will go home for 30 days and report to probation by phone before returning to the United State in September to take part in training camp with the Islanders.

Trivino was kicked off the BU hockey team in December.

A BU spokesperson said Trivino is no longer enrolled at the school.
