BOSTON (AP) -- An Indian man whose son was killed while attending graduate school in Boston has criticized police for not pursuing tips he has given them and not making an arrest.

Kanagala Sudhakar Rao said he has asked Indian diplomats in the United States to press police to solve the April 19 fatal shooting of his son Kanagala Seshadri Rao in the city's Brighton neighborhood.

The 24-year-old Rao was enrolled in a master's program at Boston University's School of Management.

A Boston police spokeswoman tells The Boston Globe that detectives are actively investigating the case and Commissioner Edward Davis would call Rao personally to give him an update.

The spokeswoman says the time it takes to make an arrest varies by case and police understand his frustration.
