BOSTON (AP) -- A federal appeals court is scheduled to hear arguments from Boston College in its appeal of a judge's ruling ordering the school to release interviews with seven former members of the Irish Republican Army.

In January, U.S. District Court Judge William Young ordered the school to turn over the interviews to the U.S. Department of Justice for handover to police in Northern Ireland investigating the IRA's 1972 killing of a Belfast woman. The interviews were conducted as part of an oral history project.

Participants said the interviews were supposed to be kept secret until their deaths.

The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear arguments Friday.

In July, the court upheld a ruling by Young ordering Boston College to turn over an interview with convicted IRA car bomber Dolours Price.
