BOSTON (WHDH) -- A UPS driver rescued a dog that was dangling from a window in Boston’s South End Monday.

“Just me being me, trying to help people out,” said Hector Matta, UPS employee.

It was anything but an ordinary day for Hector Matta, who rescued a dog dangling from a South End apartment window about 3 p.m. Monday.

“Just happened to make a delivery and look up and see this dog on the window shaking,” Matta said. “I just tried to do the best I could with the dog because I felt bad for him.”

A nearby construction site handed Matta a ladder and he climbed up to the rescue.

“He was just in the window and hanging for dear life and I looked up and it was shivering,” Matta said.

The screen window was clearly busted where the dog had gotten through. Matta was able to push the dog back inside.

“I love dogs -- I love animals. It’s nothing for me, this is what I do,” Matta said.

"Thank you, thank you so much. In fact, I was trying to figure out how to reach out to him. I really thank them so much for saving my baby," the dog's owner said.

Matta has been a UPS employee for over a decade.
