9/11 memorial ceremonies across Boston

BOSTON (WHDH) -- September 11th memorials took place across Boston Tuesday morning including a ceremony and moments of silence at the State House.

Here are other opportunities to remember and honor the victims and heroes of the September 11th attacks:

American Red Cross day of Remembrance Blood Drive 6 a.m. to noon
At Gate D at Fenway Park the Red Cross is hosting a blood drive in honor of those who died on 9/11.

Massachusetts 9/11 Fund Wreath Laying Ceremony 7:30 a.m.
Mayor Thomas Menino participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Boston Public Garden 9/11 Memorial.

Massachusetts 9/11 Fund Flag Lowering 8:30 a.m.
The flag was lowered, a moment of silence was held and the victims’ names were read on the front steps of the State House by Governor Deval Patrick.

Commemoration Observation and Sweeney Award Presentation 9:30 a.m.
State House officials and members of the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund will present the Madeline Amy Sweeney Award for civilian bravery during a ceremony at the State House. Sweeney was an American Airlines flight attendant for 14 years until the plane she was on flew in the World Trade Center.

Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund 9/11 Service Project 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
On the Rose Kennedy Greenway, volunteers will help the Military Heroes Fund assemble 1,000 care packaged which will be shipped to military personnel from Massachusetts stationed around the globe. Gov. Deval Patrick, Mayor Thomas Menino and Attorney General Martha Coakley plan to join the effort. Brief remarks will be given at 1 p.m.

Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Tribute 11a.m.
The tribute will be on display on the Rose Kennedy Parkway near the Mother’s Walk. The tribute is to honor the state’s heroes who have died in the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

The Prudential Tower Lighting 4:30 p.m.
Massachusetts Fallen Heroes members will join the city’s commissioner of veterans’ services and officials from Boston Properties to light the top of the Prudential Tower red, white and blue in remembrance of fallen military members.

Massachusetts Fallen Firefighters Memorial Procession 5:30 p.m.
Uniformed firefighters, pipe and drum bands and honor guards will lead a procession starting on Beacon Street and ending at the Massachusetts Fallen Firefighters memorial Ring of Honor at the State House.
