Man flees after attempt to steal from officer

QUINCY, Mass. (WHDH) -- Police searched for a man who tried to steal money from an off-duty officer in Quincy.

Investigators said the man tried to steal money from the woman just before midnight.

When she identified herself as an officer, the suspect got back in his minivan and drove away - but he crashed a short while later.

He then ran from the accident scene.
