WEST ROXBURY, Mass. (WHDH) -- A Boston police officer was injured in an accident at Lagrange Street and the VFW Parkway in West Roxbury Monday morning.
A woman, who was driving a Volvo, was on Lagrange Street heading outbound. The officer was on the VFW Parkway heading outbound, when the two of them collided in the middle of the intersection.
The front end of the police cruiser was mangled; the driver’s side front wheel was coming off the vehicle. The rear of the cruiser also sustained damage after the Volvo spun around. The Volvo was smashed in the front. Both vehicles were towed away from the scene.
Sources told 7News the accident occurred when the police officer was responding to a call from another officer who had gotten into a scuffle with a suspect. That suspect has since been arrested.
Detours were set up around the intersection Monday morning while crews worked to clean up the accident.
The officer was taken to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Sources said his injuries are minor. The woman in the Volvo walked away from the accident.
Officials continue to investigate the crash.
