BOSTON (WHDH) -- Braintree native and University of Alabama shooter Amy Bishop is headed to court Monday.

The ex-professor pleaded guilty in September 2012 to killing three people and wounding three others back in February 2010.

It was part of a plea deal with prosecutors that allowed her to avoid the death penalty but under Alabama law, a trial is still required because Bishop admitted to capital murder.

The entire trial is only expected to last a few hours.

Bishop is also awaiting trial on charges she killed her brother in Massachusetts in 1986.

The death was originally ruled accidental but authorities reopened the case after the Alabama shootings.
