Avalanna Routh, "Mrs. Bieber," laid to rest

BOSTON (WHDH) -- Avalanna Routh, also known as "Mrs. Bieber," was laid to rest on Saturday after losing a battle to a rare form of brain cancer.
A memorial mass was held at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Newburyport. A private burial followed.
The 6-year-old grabbed national headlines earlier this year thanks to Justin Bieber. Her dream was to meet the pop star and thanks to a Facebook campaign, her wishes came true. Not only did she meet Bieber, but the two became close friends.
Bieber brought Avalanna to his performances and brought national attention to her battle against brain cancer.
More recently, Avalanna was recognized on the "Stand-up to Cancer" telethon.
"She is one brave girl, and I will always stand up to cancer for her," said Jessica Biel.
Due to the kick-off of Bieber’s “Believe” tour, he was unable to attend the funeral, but made sure to send flowers.
Bieber dedicated his first show in her memory.
