Video: Police looking into brawl outside Boston bar

BOSTON (WHDH) -- Video shows a brutal brawl in the financial district where a crowd surrounded two men as they threw punches outside a bar. One man got knocked to the ground while people cheered.

Police are now reviewing the fight, which took place near Milk Street and India Street in Boston Saturday night.

Boston police said the recorded incident was one of many violent events from over the weekend. Police do not know the circumstances behind the fight or who the victim is, but they do know it is not related to the death of Steven DiRoberto, who was found dead on the street a few blocks away.

“I’m not surprised because there are so many bars here, but the level of violence -- no I hadn’t realized it had gotten that bad,” said Gail Davis, who works nearby.

People who work in the area during the day or even into the early evening it is a business and tourist area. Some people say on weekend nights the atmosphere is much different.

“It is mayhem,” said Jesse Blatz, who works nearby. “Everybody pours out of the bars.”

“Sometimes it is a little intimidating to come out here and try and get a cab and walk through the chaos,” said Brian Leech, who works nearby.

The person who recorded the video later posted it on YouTube. Police are reviewing it, but at this point no one is facing charges because they never received any phone calls about the incident.
