Local couple back from Bahamas to face Sandy again

BOSTON (WHDH) -- A local couple who survived Hurricane Sandy on a cruise to the Bahamas is back home in Boston preparing to face her again.

“Hurricane Sandy came in and successfully destroyed our vacation,” said Katelyn Margie.

Now she has to relive the storm that is expected to hit New England in the next 48 hours.

“Heavy, heavy winds. Rain. I'd say lots of trees down. The aftermath was horrible,” said Margie.

Local officials are urging everyone to stay away from the water.

“If you live near the ocean, be really prepared. Lots of flooding. The waves were huge; huge waves. I actually think we lived through the worst of it. I’m hopeful that the worst is not going to hit up here,” said Margie.
