BRIGHTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- A driver took off after hitting and killing a Boston University student who was riding his bike in Brighton on Monday.
The victim's name hasn't been released but police said the student was a 21-year-old man from china, studying at Boston University.
Police are trying to figure out if an MBTA bus was involved in the apparent hit and run.
The MBTA confirmed a Route 57 bus operator is being taken off the streets while the investigation continues.
Bicyclists who use the busy intersection stopped to look at the crime scene, saying they're saddened, though not entirely surprised to see an accident here.
“Honestly, too, a lot of the bikers don’t pay a lot of attention to the rules. I don’t know what happened with this guy, unfortunately, but people try to rush and get around and you know, a lot of things happen,” said a local.
A source close to the investigation said there were four buses in the area at the time of the accident. All four buses have been impounded and investigators will take a look at the buses’ GPS systems to see where they were at the time of the accident.
