ROXBURY, Mass. (WHDH) -- One person died and another is in the hospital after a shooting in Roxbury on Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting happened at the corner of Batchelder Street and Marshfield Street at 2:45 p.m.

Two men in their 20s were shot in the head in the street. They were both transported to the hospital.

The Police Commissioner said one of the men died en route to the hospital, the other man is in very serious condition.

“This particular street is not a street that we respond to frequently. It’s a relatively quiet area for Roxbury and we’re actually here looking around to try to find anybody that may have had information. But this is usually a slow area for the district. I’ve talked to the captain, who’s behind me, and we don’t come down here a lot. It’s not a busy spot,” said Commissioner Ed Davis, Boston Police Department.

Police said both men were unarmed.

Police said a third party was involved. No arrests have been made.
