BOSTON (WHDH) -- The newest student organization to be recognized by Harvard University is named Munch, and its purpose is for students interested in kink and alternative sexualities to have a place where they can meet and discuss such activities.
"Of course I've heard of it. You know what it does,” said Luke Escobar, a student.
Most Harvard students 7News spoke with said they support the club.
"I think it’s a good thing. I think a student should be able to express their interests -- whatever form that takes,” said Michael Mehra, a student.
But at least one student at Harvard feels campus isn't the right environment to discuss kinky sex acts or whatever may come up.
"I just think the university is a weird place to take that interest,” said Marcie Laub, a student. “It doesn't seem like the place to meet people that would be interested in that. I feel that's what the Internet is for."
According to the club's listing on Harvard’s website, the BDSM club has about 26 to 50 members.
“I’m not surprised. Harvard always tries to reach out to everyone,” a student said.
A Harvard official told 7News the group is recognized, but the college does not endorse the views or activities of any independent student-run organization.
