BOSTON (AP) -- As the hectic holiday travel season approaches, Gov. Deval Patrick and other state officials will be recognizing airport employees who have gone further than most for customer service and security.

About two dozen employees will be honored at noon Friday at Boston's Logan International Airport.

The Logan "SAFE" program -- which stands for Security Awareness for Everyone -- recognizes airport workers who have shown security awareness in their daily work, including reporting suspicious behavior. Those being honored were nominated by their peers.

The "STARS" program recognizes exceptional customer service. That includes everything from acts of heroism to improving operational efficiency. Many of those honored are front-line airport employees who work directly with passengers every day.
