BOSTON (WHDH) -- A Brookline-based author is on the hunt for his missing dog and if you help him, you could be in his next book.
Dennis Lehane is the author of "Mystic River," "Gone Baby Gone," and "Shutter Island."
He posted on his Facebook page Christmas Day that his Beagle, Tessa, jumped the fence at his home and has been missing near the Coolidge Corner area since Christmas Eve. She is micro-chipped, but was not wearing her tags when she took off.
Lehane, known for his suspense and thrillers, now has a sincere plea.
His Tessa, whom he describes as smart, fast, and immeasurably sweet, is missing. His reward: his writing.
Lehane says he will name a character is his next book after the person who helps return Tessa to him.
“It’s a fun idea, creative. I like it. It’s a creative person with a creative idea,” said Joe Kennedy.
If you have any information about Tessa's whereabouts, he's asking that you reach out to him on Facebook.
