WINTHROP, Mass. (WHDH) -- There was no snow on the coast, but plenty of wind and rain forcing flights out of Logan to be canceled or delayed.

Nearly twenty flights out of the airport were cancelled by 5 a.m. Thursday.

Experts said you should make sure to check your flight online before you leave for the airport to make sure it's not delayed or cancelled.

In Winthrop, winds were gusting between 30 and 40 miles per hour. A mixture of sand and seawater came over the seawall in Winthrop, driven by really fierce winds that were, in fact, so strong 7News had to leave the location as it rocks the van back and forth.

Sand on Revere Beach Boulevard created a bit of a mess for cars. There was heavy flooding on parts of Route 15 in Chelsea. Flooding shut down parts of the roads where Route 1 and Route 16 meet.

Crews were trying to drain waters from the streets as cars converged into one lane eastbound.

A Coastal Flood advisory was in effect for the area until noon.
