Sumner Tunnel to close Sunday night

BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Sumner Tunnel will be closed tonight, so crews can do "pull tests" on wall panels.

The tunnel, which connects Logan Airport with downtown Boston, will be closed from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. Monday, in time for the morning commute.

Last Friday in the Callahan Tunnel, a 4-by-9-foot panel weighing about 100 pounds fell from the wall into the roadway.

Crews performed the "pull tests" there last weekend, and removed more than one hundred panels that were in poor condition.
