BOSTON -- Searching for a unique gift to give this year?

Head over to eBay or Fenway.

The State Treasurer's office today unveiled items which will soon be up for auction through its annual abandoned property auction.

Items that are left in a safe deposit boxes for seven years are turned over to the state.

Workers then try to contact the owners and return the property, but they can't, the items are put up for auction.

This year, items range from rare coins and precious gems to paper money.

All proceeds benefit the state's general fund.

"It's generally been about 100,000. Some a little higher, some a little lower. Even if it comes to only 100,000 it certainly won't hurt since revenues continue to decline this year," said Tim Cahill, Massachusetts Treasurer.

The online auction starts Saturday at noon and runs through December 20.

The Red Sox will be hosting a sale of their own at Fenway park on December 13.

The team will give fans a chance to buy some unique team memorabilia.

Items for sale include autographs from current and former players, used jerseys and bats, ballpark furniture, and even original Fenway park bricks.

Those looking to attend the sale at Fenway must register online at redsox.com.
