SANDWICH, Mass. (WHDH) -- Snow and wind knocked out the power for 60 percent of homes and businesses in Sandwich.
The winds were measured at about 52 miles per hour Friday night. Firefighters said there were downed power lines across the city.
NStar crews were out working to restore power, but were having trouble fixing the power problems as weather conditions continued to deteriorate.
A storm surge posed a threat as high tide was expected late Friday night and at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.
Sandwich has a shelter set up at Sandwich High School for anyone in need.
