High tide hits Sandwich, floods neighborhoods
SANDWICH, Mass. (WHDH) -- High tide stormed in and flooded many neighborhoods already dealing with blizzard conditions Saturday.
Many residents had to abandon their homes as the ocean encroached on beachfront properties.
Officials said 88 percent of the town was without power as of 12:20 p.m. Saturday. 911 service was also down.
There was no power at the shelter set up at Sandwich High School as well.
The persistent wind and widespread power outages were the major problems instead of the snow.
