1 dead in Cape Cod fire

EASTHAM, Mass. (AP) -- Authorities say a "young female" has died in a house fire in Eastham.

Firefighters responded to the home at about 4:30 p.m. on Sunday to find flames engulfing the small house.

There was no immediate word on the cause and the name of the person found in the home was not immediately made public.

An autopsy is scheduled on the victim's body.

Authorities tell the Cape Cod Times that the homeowners were not home at the time but have been notified.

Firefighters from several surrounding towns helped battle the blaze.

There was concern that there was ammunition stored in the home, but an investigator says no ammunition was found and the sounds were likely aerosol cans exploding.
