Skipped pledge ruffles some Falmouth selectmen

FALMOUTH, Mass. (WHDH) -- Some members of the Falmouth Board of Selectmen say they were upset when the acting chair denied a request to say the Pledge of Allegiance at a meeting Monday.
A fellow selectman says he was a little surprised by the statement, having said the pledge for the past two years.
“As local leaders, I think we have to set an example to the kids in our community,” selectman Kevin Murphy said. “We’re not state or federal officials, but we surely need to set that example. Everything is local and it starts locally. I hope that she would reconsider that in the future.”
Other members of the board were also upset; they told 7NEWS they hope the pledge will be recited during next week's meeting.
