MIDDLEBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- The black bear that has made the trek from Middleboro to Cape Cod has been spotted once again, headed east.
The big black bear that has been playing tourist on Cape Cod has been spotted in Orleans.
“It’s heading its way down the Cape -- it should be turning the corner and heading north here pretty soon,” said Wylie Shaw, a neighbor.
Police say the now-famous beast hunkered down near Kents Point -- a popular dog-walking area.
Many showed up to try to catch a glimpse of the bear that has everyone talking.
“There’s another group out here with about five dogs. Everybody comes here every day so it’s not keeping him out of here,” Shaw said.
The bear has been on quite a journey. He was first spotted in Middleboro, then Plymouth. Officials say at that point he most likely swam over the canal through Sandwich and Barnstable.
The bear made an appearance in Yarmouthport, Dennis and Brewster before his latest appearance in Orleans. He stopped by a town-owned farm in Yarmouth, and showed up near the Yarmouthport golf club.
The bear has been tracked by local and environmental police, who say they will only tranquilize him if he's caught up a tree in daylight.
