WOBURN, Mass. -- Two more people were arrested and charged in connection with the attempted robbery of a jewelry store, which wounded a Woburn police officer, back in September.

The courtroom was filled with Woburn police officers and the suspects’ families on Wednesday as Erianiss Murillo, 17, and Alegra Martinez, 18, were charged in connection with the shooting of veteran Officer Robert DeNapoli, who was present in court. DeNapoli sat not far from Martinez’s father, who is a Boston police officer.

"Your daughter's charged. How would you feel?" said Officer Carlos Martinez on Wednesday.

The prosecution says Murillo and Martinez cased Musto Jewelers in Woburn for months before allegedly attempting to rob it in September. They allegedly asked about the expensive jewels and staffing at the store. The keys to the getaway car were allegedly found in a drawer in Murillo’s bedroom.

DeNapoli tried to stop the robbery in progress, which resulted in a shoot out and a days-long hunt for the male suspects, who have been charged. DeNapoli lost a finger and nearly his sight in the shooting.

Murillo and Martinez’s lawyers said the teenagers don’t have records and do not belong in jail. Murillo's attorney said the only thing his client has been identified by was her clothing.

“She’s young, she’s inexperienced, she’s scared,” said Chris Belezos, Murillo’s attorney.

Martinez allegedly told people she was in Woburn at the time of the shooting and knew too many of the details surrounding the case.

“I would suggest that anybody in that situation would also be scared -- scared of the system, just scared of being in custody. It’s not a pleasant thing,” said Ed Krippendorf, Martinez’s attorney.

Prosecutors said Murillo and Martinez said too much to too many people, which ultimately led to their arrests.

The judge said the acts that they were allegedly involved with were egregious and it looked like they were active participants.

Murillo and Martinez are being held on $250,000 cash bail.
