MALDEN, Mass. (WHDH) -- Surveillance video captured a man stealing a charity box from a store in Malden.

The crime was caught on surveillance video.

“We’ve been open like six months and this is not the first time we’ve been exposed to robbery,” said Munir Adib, a store employee.

Two men are accused in connection with the charity box theft from the Baba Market on Pleasant Street.

A store employee said three men walked into the store. Two men kept the employee busy in the back while another man grabbed the donation box.

"The donation box was over there on that side, so as they kept us busy that kid just took the box,” said Munir Adib.

Police said he hid the box under his shirt and took off.

"This money was meant to be for poor people, their school, education, their families. So they desperately need this money. It’s just sad," Adib said.

Officers said they recovered the stolen money. It is being held as evidence but will soon be returned to the store.
