NEEDHAM, Mass. (WHDH) -- There are hundreds of young gymnasts at home and all across the country that have been inspired by Aly's performance in the London Games.

Many of them were on the edge of their seats watching Tuesday's competition.

Young girls at the Newton gym where Aly Raisman started gymnastics cheered on their Needham hero. Kids took an hour out of their summer camp schedule to watch Aly perform.

The kids say Aly has inspired them to have Olympic dreams.

“You could tell like right when she finished her floor routine, she mouthed, ‘wow,’ and you could just tell she was so happy about it,” said Lulu Lazaro.

“I thought she was doing so good and she stuck everything. And she didn’t wobble when she stuck everything. And she didn’t step out of bounds at all,” said Katerina Poulopoulous.

“She stayed in first the whole time and did really great and it’s just like, one day we could be just like her and she came from our gym and she works with some of the coaches we work with so like one day we could be just the same as her,” said Julie Schoen.

“They’re just really excited for her, especially where she came here and they have some of the same coaches that she had, so they’re all really aspiring to be her. She just deserves it so we were really excited it happened for her,” said Melissa McManus, gymnastics teacher.
