BOSTON (WHDH) -- A man was arrested after a high-speed chase from South Boston to Burlington late Sunday night.

Police said the 19-year-old man was driving a stolen SUV. Sources said the chase started when officers stopped the car in South Boston, but the driver took off and state police troopers were called to follow the vehicle.

According to investigators, the man was speeding on Route 128 and hit at least three cruisers during the pursuit. The suspect eventually drove over a spike strip that blew out the vehicle’s two front tires.

The suspect continued to drive on the rims, but lost control and crashed into a jersey barrier on exit 32. Numerous police cars surrounded the vehicle following the crash.

He was taken to South Boston State Police barracks where he was booked. He faces multiple charges.

There are no reports of injuries at this time.
