WESTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- A young man was arrested and charged in connection with several home burglaries in Weston and Wayland. The suspect -- who worked at a local car dealership -- used his job to get into the victims' homes and then sold the stolen items on Craigslist, according to police.

Police said 21-year-old John Williams from Baltimore, Maryland targeted homes in Weston, Wayland and Acton and possibly other communities.

According to police, he had been stealing computers and iPads on credit cards for months and selling them on Craigslist.

Detectives arrested Williams after he allegedly posted an ad selling a 27-inch iMac for $1,500. Police answered the ad and talked him down to $1,200, then made the arrest.

Police said they found the iMac in a home where he had been living in Acton. They found other allegedly stolen items and $3,000 in cash.

The Kennedy family from Acton told 7News they took Williams in to help him out. Scott Kennedy's stepson met him online.

“My stepson, met him online and I got to know him, he asked for some help getting on his feet and we took him in. We’re just trying to do our best for him. He seemed like a good. [I am stunned by the allegations] very sad state of affairs,” said Scott Kennedy, who took in the suspect.

Williams told the Kennedy family he was fixing computers for others.

Williams was working that Jeep Chrysler dealership in Acton. According to police, Williams would do the house breaks while dropping off serviced cars to customers.

Police suspect Williams in a third house break-in in which a boy – who was at home – got scared and ran into the street in his pajamas.

Williams was arraigned Thursday and is being held on $5,000 cash bail.
