WELLESLEY, Mass. (AP) -- Police have identified a Wellesley cyclist who was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver.

Police on Saturday identified the victim as Alexander Motsenigos of Wellesley. A driver travelling north on Weston Road hit the 41-year-old man as he was riding in the same direction near the intersection of Linden Street on Friday afternoon.

Investigators say the victim was wearing a helmet. Television footage from the scene showed a broken helmet and bicycle debris on the roadway.

Emergency workers found the victim unconscious and took him to Newton Wellesley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle that hit him did not stop and was last seen headed north on Weston Road. Investigators urge witnesses and anyone with information to contact the Wellesley Police Department at 781-235-1212.
