BILLERICA, Mass. (WHDH) – The FBI raided a family-owned moving company after customers complained they were overcharged.

Federal agents converged on the Father & Son moving company on Dunham Road in Billerica early Friday morning.

The FBI confirmed to 7News that they were conducting a court-authorized activity at Father & Son Moving and Storage, and it was not terror related.

Sources on the scene said the surprise raid involved the FBI, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and the Inspector General’s office.

The move by law enforcement officials came after 51 complaints against the company between 2011 and 2012; a number Attorney General Martha Coakley calls alarming.

The attorney general’s office is focusing on multiple complaints that customers were being billed hundreds of dollars more than the original estimate.

The Better Business Bureau cited more than 100 complaints against the company, giving them a C rating on their website.

7News’ calls to the moving company were not returned.
