FOXBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- A couple of die-hard Patriots fans had never been to Gillette Stadium before, so they knew the first visit would be memorable, but Tayla Harvey had no idea just how life changing it would be.
Harvey said she couldn't believe her eyes when her boyfriend proposed with a big screen message at the beginning of the third quarter.
“I was shocked. I wasn't expecting it at all,” said Harvey.
“It says ‘Tayla will you marry me?’ And you know my name’s spelled T-a-y-l-a and I thought is that my name? Who else spells their name like that?” said Harvey.
The Quincy woman had bought the tickets to the game as a surprise early Christmas present for Brett Oster who's stationed in Wyoming with the Air Force.
“I was actually shaking a little bit and she thought I was cold and put a blanket on me. Finally when it happened, I just blocked out everyone,” said Oster.
Harvey said his surprise beats even the Patriots’ big win.
“I’m feeling amazing. Absolutely amazing,” said Oster.
The groom-to-be is set to deploy in June for a year-long tour in Korea. The couple plans to marry when he returns.
