Child injured when Pittsfield ceiling collapses

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) -- A 1-year-old girl suffered minor scratches and bruises when the ceiling collapsed in her family's Pittsfield apartment.

Fire officials say the girl and a 3-year-old sibling were watching television at about 3 p.m. Sunday when the ceiling fell.

Their parents immediately called 911.

The girl was taken to Berkshire Medical Center as a precaution.

The sibling was not injured.

Fire officials told The Berkshire Eagle that the apartment's owners agreed to find alternate housing for the family.
