FOXBORO, Mass. (WHDH) -- Fans packed Gillette for the grand finale against Miami. They have a lot to cheer about with their team set to make another post-season run.

“I think the colder it gets the more fun fans have. I don’t know why but that’s New England,” said a fan.

Fans are having plenty of fun after blasting away the Dolphins, securing a first-round bye in the playoffs.

“It’s going to help them tremendously, more time game plan. It’s good, they need a rest,” said a fan.

It's tough to beat a win at Gillette on game day, but Drew Grant said he can: he's getting married there on Monday.

“You come here you get a win, you get the bye for the weekend, for the first round. That’s all you can ask for,” said Grant.

“I’m the ultimate winner,” he said.

And the second seed in the conference, just the icing on his wedding cake. The two sat in the stands, bundled up and cold, but happy.

“It wasn’t too bad, we were warm with love!” said Grant’s fiancé.

Which is surprising because there was 8 inches of snow in the stadium hours before kick-off. Some of it apparently landed on a Miami fan, who said it was all in good fun:

“Snowballs were a big issue though, the snowballs coming on top of me,” said the Miami fan.

Fans said the cold weather may just help the Patriots heat up as they march into the playoffs, now with an extra week of rest.

“You don’t wanna be playing the first round of the weekend, anything can happen there. But if you’ve got a bye, you have time to focus, to see what goes on in all the other games,” said a fan.

Fans said it’s a good time for the Patriots to rest up after Rob Ninkovich suffered an injury and Rob Gronkowski’s return.
