1 taken to hospital after car plunges into frozen pond
SUDBURY, Mass. (WHDH) -- One person was transported to the hospital after a car fell through a frozen pond in Sudbury.
The fire department says they received reports about a car in the water at about 8 a.m.
According to the police, a man and woman were in the car when it became stuck on Willis Pond just after midnight.
The people called for help and the fire department rescued them. The fire department took the man to the hospital because he was wet.
Then, they had the task of trying to remove the vehicle. Crews have been trying to remove the vehicle all day, slowly yanking it on its roof to shore.
“He was having difficulty getting to shore so we went out there with our track vehicle and got it from the other side through the marsh and we’ve been dragging it the whole way up the other side of the pond, but now we just got stuck, so we’re going to get pulled out and we’re going to continue to bring the vehicle over here and load it on the ramp truck and get it out of here,” said one of the workers.
They were finally able to get the car out of the pond. The situation is still under investigation.
