RAYMOND, N.H. (WHDH) – A New Hampshire family wants to know who shot and wounded their dog that had to be euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.
An 11-year-old black lab was shot and left to wander in pain, leaving a trail of blood.
“[The family] came home and found that the front door was open. There was a blood trail leading into the yard. They followed it and subsequently found their canine with an injury,” said Sgt. Scott Payne, Raymond, New Hampshire Police Department. “It was either a pellet gun or a BB gun.”
The dog had to be euthanized. Neighbors are outraged.
“Really? Now dogs are getting shot in broad daylight? And whatever coward did this needs to come forward,” said Kerri Gannon, a neighbor.
Neighbors told 7News a cat was shot with the same type of gun a few months ago, and people believe it is someone who lives in the area.
“I think someone saw something and I think as the word gets out, people will start to call,” said Sgt. Payne.
The shooter, if caught, will be charged with animal cruelty.
