PLAISTOW, N.H. (WHDH) -- A convicted sex offender was taken into custody after allegedly inappropriately touching a 9-year-old child at a WalMart in Plaistow.

Ronald Beausoleil was charged with two counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault during a video arraignment in Plaistow, New Hampshire District Court Tuesday.

Beausoleil was arrested Monday night in the parking lot of the WalMart. Prosecutors say the 33-year-old went into a WalMart in Plaistow Sunday night and groped a 9-year-old girl left alone in the toy aisle. Her mother was just a few aisles away.

Police put out surveillance photos hoping for help from the public, but it was Rockingham County Deputy Sheriff Matt Taracciolo out on patrol Monday night who spotted the suspect in his pickup truck back in the WalMart parking lot with his six-month-old daughter in the vehicle.

“Bad decision on his part to come back to Plaistow. And luck on my part to find him,” said Deputy Sheriff Taracciolo.

Beausoleil lives in an apartment in Haverhill with his wife and their baby.

Beausoleil is a registered sex offender after being sentenced to two to four years in prison after being convicted of a sexual assault in New Hampshire in 1999.

He is being held on $25,000 cash bail.
