Man accused of child abuse in Arlington held on bail
ARLINGTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- A man accused of abusing children 30 years ago appeared in Cambridge District Court Monday morning.
Paul Collins, 62, was charged with rape and assault on children under the age of 14. Collins was a pool director and swim coach at the Arlington Boys and Girls Club where some of the alleged assaults took place.
Prosecutors said there are four accusers in this case, all of which came forward after police started investigating another program director from the same club.
Collins has lived in several states across the country in the past three decades since the alleged abuse. Last week police found and arrested him at his home in Centereach, N.Y.
Collins is being held on $250,000 cash bail with the following conditions: no contact with any victims/witnesses, wear a GPS monitor, no unsupervised contact with children under 16, no work or volunteer work involving contact with children under 16.
The defendant's next court date is set for June 17th.
