Fire destroys home in Arlington
ARLINGTON, Mass. (WHDH) -- Flames trapped an elderly woman inside an Arlington home - but she was saved thanks to an off-duty police officer.
At first the woman didn’t even know that her home was on fire. The flames were intense. The fire broke out shortly after 6 p.m.
Neighbors saw the flames and, knowing an 85-year-old woman lived in the home, rushed in to help her.
It was at that point that an off-duty police officer who happened to be in the area also ran into the building. He and a neighbor helped the woman out of the building.
There was no word on the woman’s condition, but neighbors told 7News that she was doing okay.
The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
