Police say double shooting in Chelsea was not random
CHELSEA, Mass. (WHDH) -- Chelsea Police are looking for two people behind a double shooting that happened Saturday afternoon.
“This kid came running in saying ‘call 911!’ then he ran out the back door,” said one woman.
One of the two victims ran through a beauty salon along Washington Avenue to escape the gunmen.
“We were afraid he might come after the kid, but he didn’t,” the woman said.
Half a block away Chelsea fire fighters had just wrapped up their Saturday morning charity drive.
“We had a bunch of our family members out there,” said Captain Richie Carroccino, Chelsea Fire Department.
That same man, a victim in his 20s, came running down the street with the gunshot wound to his chest.
“We heard the gunshots and within a minute or two, a gentleman ran right into the station and claimed he had been shot and was bleeding we started treatment right there,” Carroccino said.
The victim was taken to Mass. General Hospital. The second man was grazed by a bullet. Police say the suspects ran from the scene of the shooting.
The investigators are now reviewing surveillance video. Police hope that several witnesses who saw what happened will be able to help solve the case. Police also say this was not a random shooting and believe the two groups knew each other. One of the victims was known to police.
