Man charged with June Charlestown murder
CHARLESTOWN, Mass. (WHDH) -- Twenty-year-old Pablo Flores, Jr. was arraigned in court Thursday in the shooting death of 21-year-old Steven Jones.
Flores was arrested Wednesday in Dorchester after being indicted on first-degree murder and firearms charges in June.
Prosecutors said that Steven Jones saw Flores in a fist fight with someone and when he tried to break up the fight, he was shot.
Police found Jones, with a gunshot wound, at the intersection of Medford Street and Monument Avenue, but he died at the scene. Flores has been the suspect in Jones' death all summer.
The victim's friends and family were all at the arraignment today, including Steven Jones' mother, Susan Rawlinson.
“It’s justice for Steve, his friends that are missing him. I go down to Montego Bay and I’m like ‘why isn’t anyone laughing?” And I remember he was the on that made them laugh,” she said.
Rawlinson also said she plans to open a foundation to benefit the community in her son's memory.
