Man charged with sexual assault at Chelsea camp
CHELSEA, Mass. (WHDH) -- Investigators say a 22-year-old man sexually assaulted a preteen boy this summer at a camp in Chelsea.
The man was reportedly volunteering at Explorer Post 109 when the alleged assault occurred.
The suspect’s friends said he is very fond of the club, and he even invited people to attend with him.
“He's actually one of the people that brought me, that first started getting me to come here. I know he'd never do anything to hurt this place or hurt anybody in there,” Mark Reddick, a friend of the suspect, said.
According to police the incident happened in July, but it wasn’t reported until the victim told friends and school officials.
“Nothing you could tell me would tell me that he would do something like this. I’m just hoping they got the wrong person,” Reddick said.
