17 students from Beverly suspended in sexting case
BEVERLY, Mass. (WHDH) -- Seventeen middle and high school students from Beverly have been suspended after they were allegedly involved in sexting.
Police say the video originated from one boy’s girlfriend, then when the couple broke up he sent the video to his friends who then forwarded it to their friends.
"It's scary. To think that they can do that now. Nothing is private anymore," Robin Lawrence, a concerned parent, said.
Six of the students suspended attend Beverly High School, the other 11 attend the Briscoe Middle School.
"A police report was filed. And they were given a break this time. They understand that wouldn't be the case if it happens again," Beverly Police Officer Edward Hathon said.
Police say no criminal charges will be filed and they hope this will be a lesson for kids.
