Authorities arrest Everett man after wild crash
MALDEN, Mass. (WHDH) -- An out of control driver in a pickup truck slammed into a slew of cars along Ferry Street at the Everett-Malden line around noon Thursday.
“The car came from down Ferry Street from Everett, hit the pole here. Went right up the street here, slammed into this car over here, and just backed up and hit it pedal to the metal up the street,” said Gene Gaudreau, witness.
Police say the 56-year-old drunk driver from Everett struck a 22-year-old woman standing on the sidewalk waiting for a bus. The woman was rushed to a hospital.
“A client or someone is very hurt from in front of the store. It's just a big mess,” said Sycily Hutson, knows the victim.
Investigators say the driver was finally arrested after he pulled into his own driveway.
Police removed several bags from the pickup said to be filled with beer cans. A dog was rescued from the truck as well.
“This is the fourth time in less than five years this building is hit. People who seem to think that the Indianapolis 500 runs through Malden, and that’s not the way it should be,” said Dennis Fusco, concerned neighbor.
