SALEM, Mass. -- A Salem woman was reunited with her bike that was stolen two years ago.

Bike enthusiast Melinda Lyon never thought she would see her custom-made Rambouille bicycle again.

Two years ago, she rode it 15 miles to work at the Salem Hospital, where it was stolen.

“After work I went out to where we all keep our bikes, and I said ‘huh,’” said Lyon.

Her $3,000 bike had been stolen.

However, this week her bike was spotted for sale on the internet, and the seller was only asking for $200.00.

“I didn’t stop looking. I always kept checking the internet because these are such unique bikes, and I thought, at the very least, a friend of mine would end up with it and know it was mine,” said Lyon.

“This woman actually recorded the serial number on the bike and had pictures of the bike, so we were able to identify it real easy from that,” said Salem Police Detective John Doyle.

According to Salem police, the person who had the bike is cooperating and did not know it was stolen.

“The bike traveled from Salem to Marblehead, to Somerville and back to Salem,” said Doyle.

Police said they may never know who stole the bike.
