Grandma fights off naked intruder with baseball bat

MANCHESTER, N.H. -- A grandmother in New Hampshire got a rude awakening when a naked man was found walking down the hallway toward her bedroom in the middle of the night.
At 70-years-old, Bonnie (as she wants to be called) uses a cane to get around and a baseball bat to fend off her attackers.
“This is the screen that he tore apart,” said Bonnie.
The intruder broke in through a first-floor window early Sunday morning. Bonnie woke up at 3:30 a.m. to the sound of someone walking up her stairs.
“When I got into the hallway, this man is standing there butt naked and I’m saying, ‘Who are you? How did you get here? Get out of my house! Get out of my house!’ He wouldn’t leave. He just stood there,” said Bonnie.
Bonnie then ran back into the bedroom to arm herself.
“When I got the bat, he turned and he ran. Then I got downstairs and he sort of launched at me and I was like, ‘Oh no you don’t! Not in my home!’ and that’s when I hit him with the bat,” said Bonnie.
The man ran downstairs, grabbed some of the clothes he had shed in the first-floor bathroom and left the scene.
“The idea that somebody like that is in your home and I have my grandson, which I call my baby, on the same floor I am and some wacked-out is there, no. Uh-uh,” said Bonnie.
The intruder left a few things behind at the home that police hope will help them track down the naked intruder.
“He did not say anything during this encounter. He had no weapon so it is basically the motive - or the intent for him entering the apartment remains unclear at this point,” said Lt. Maureen Tessier of the Manchester, N.H. Police Department.
“What happened to him the first time, that was nothing compared to what I’ll do to him the second time,” said Bonnie. “That’s not a promise, that’s a threat.”
Police said the naked man is between 5-foot-7-inches to 5’10” tall, 20 to 30 years old and has long black hair worn in a pony tail. If you have any information on this suspect, you are urged to contact Manchester police. You could be eligible for a reward.
