Concert for scholarship named for NH murder victim

HOLLIS, N.H. -- More than a dozen bands and performers from across New England are taking part in a concert to benefit a scholarship fund named after a New Hampshire woman who was killed during a home invasion.
The concert starting at 1 p.m. Sunday at Alpine Grove in Hollis is a fundraiser for the Kimberly Cates Memorial Scholarship.
Cates was killed in her bed and her 11-year-old daughter was maimed in the attack at their Mont Vernon home on Oct. 4, 2009.
Two men convicted of murdering her have been sentenced to life without parole and three others have been sentenced for lesser crimes.
Cates was a nurse. The scholarship is awarded to high school seniors who live in Amherst and Mont Vernon and will be pursuing post-secondary education in health care.
