Soldier enlists Santa's help with parade proposal

WATERVILLE, Maine -- It was just another year of watching the parade of lights for Angela Hines, but this year the parade would end with a little extra sparkle -- as Angela’s boyfriend, Bradd Guguere got ready to get down on one knee.

Bradd is in the military and was only home for two days.

"He's in the army, he's stationed in Arizona and he said he had no idea how he was going to pull that off so many states away, so I said let me see what I can do,” Angela’s mother, Missy Houle, said.

Pulling off a little mom magic, she got in touch with the local radio station to help make the surprise proposal possible.

"When Santa arrives he's going to pop the question under the guise that she's winning something from our radio station,” Mix 107.9 co-host Tanya Berzoni said before the big announcement.

As Angela made her way to the float, Bradd was waiting in the wings, ready to pop the question.

Her answer -- was yes!

"I'm in shock, I had no idea,” she said. “This is perfect. I'm just so happy."

The happy couple has not yet set a wedding date.
