Double shooting in Peabody; 2 killed

PEABODY, Mass. -- Two people were killed in a double shooting in a Peabody home.
Police went to the home early Sunday morning after one of the victims arrived at the hospital. That victim died at the hospital and when police arrived at the scene of the shooting they found the second victim.
The two victims were neighbors and appeared to have known each other. The two men, both in their twenties, were at a gathering at the same home when something went wrong.
“At 3:14 this morning Peabody Police received a call from the Salem Police reporting that doctors at Salem Hospital were treating the victim of a shooting which took place at a residence in Peabody,” said Jonathan Blogett, District Attorney.
The 23-year-old man that had been treated at Salem Hospital died of his injuries.
After questioning the victim’s friends, police went 8 Aborn Street in Peabody to find a 24-year-old man inside the home. That man had also been shot and killed.
“Both men were at a gathering at the residence that evening and in the early morning hours. The facts and circumstances of this double homicide remain under investigation at this time,” said District Attorney Blogett.
Investigators searched the property, trying to piece together the events.
Distraught friends of the victims searched for answers.
“I don’t know anything that’s why I asked that officer there. I do know one of them is my friend,” said a friend of one of the victims.
Authorities said that police were familiar with both victims.
“From witness interviews we believe all parties involved were known to each other. This was not a random shooting and the citizens of Peabody are not in any danger,” said District Attorney Blogett.
Aborn Street reopened after a 12 hour investigation.
Police would not rule out the possibility that the two suspects may have shot each other and they would not say whether it was drug related.
